Fishing Derby

June 2nd Fishing Derby— Fishing begins at sunrise at Beach 1. Derby registration and measuring is from 7:30 to noon. Registration forms are available at the office and also on the website at www.lakemarcel.net.

Spring 2012 President’s Corner

The community Easter egg hunt was another success due to volunteers. Thanks go out to those who stuffed and hid the eggs. Not to mention the hidden things that make the event run smoothly and of course our resident Easter bunny that all the kids seem to enjoy.
Our web page at www.lakemarcel.net gives all of us opportunity to sign up as a volunteer. You will also be able to look at upcoming events and activities you may want to become a part of. Currently we are looking for 4th of July volunteers. Some of the areas we are looking for;
Bar-B-Q masters to grill for the potluck
Boats to set up docks and patrol the fireworks show
Obtaining and Organizing raffle baskets
DJ’ing
There are many more opportunities for you to become part of the success that don’t involve the day of the activity, making getting involved easy for everyone. So with the web page or by calling the office you’ll be able to keep in touch and get involved with your community.
Summer is shaping up to be a warm one which will increase the use of our parks by members and their guests. To keep the parks enjoyable throughout the summer and year review the park rules and inform your guests of them. Also it is very helpful when visiting the parks to close the gates coming or going. Doing so will help eliminate the general public using your community park. It will also help with the management of the park by our employees.
Lastly I want to thank those of you who have been supportive of the board. We optimize the most out of our limited resources plus welcome well thought of ideas that help support our community. I encourage you to come to the upcoming LMCC General Membership meeting on May 20. We will be electing new board members; giving everyone the opportunity to support your community by making a difference with how it is run.

Community Garage Sale and Art Fair

Satuday, June 30 9am – 3pm

LMCC will do the advertising. You just have the garage sale at your home. The art fair will be held on the lawn near the parking lot at Beach 1. Contact the office for more information.

Family Fun Day and Picnic

On July 4th, join us for our biggest event of the year!

Parade begins at Stillwater Elementary at 1 p.m. Fun daytime activities at Beach 1. Picnic potluck will begin at 5 p.m. Lake Marcel Community Club will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments, beverages, plates and utensils. Please bring a side dish to share. Fireworks will begin at dark, approx 10 p.m. WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

As previously mentioned, this is our biggest event of the year. We rely solely on the help of volunteers. If you would like to be a volunteer please call the office to leave your name and number. Every little bit helps tremendously.

911 – For More Than Just Emergencies

The LMCC board has contacted King County Sheriff Office’s (KCSO) Sgt. Leppich to discuss the ongoing problem of speeding in our neighborhood. Speed strips or bumps, radar signs, etc. were discussed. However, the single most effective deterrent for speeding, according to Sgt. Leppich is increased patrols. The plan going forward is for the KCSO to increase patrols in our neighborhood and they have committed to doing this. In addition, they have asked that we use 911 if we do not see enough patrols for an extended time. Sgt. Leppich stated that it was OK to do this as this is a mechanism they use to track this sort of information.
