This special winter 2016 edition of the Lake Marcel Community Club newsletter focuses on drugs and crime related issues in our neighborhood. Please see Lee Culverwell’s feature article, which includes an invitation to our upcoming town hall meeting on this topic.
Our town hall meeting will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19 at the Carnation public library. Find out more here. All Lake Marcel community residents, including property owners and renters, are invited to attend. Let’s step away from our keyboards for a while and participate in meaningful, face-to-face discussion with key leaders from the King County Council and Sheriff’s Department and the Friends of Youth.
On a related topic, Duvall-King County Fire District 45 has scheduled its own town hall meeting for 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 5 at the headquarters station in Duvall. Attendance is open to all residents of the greater Carnation-Duvall area who are interested in local issues and service challenges. The District’s goal is to provide factual information to citizens and to answer any questions before they cast their vote on the Duvall Fire levy proposition that is on the ballot for April 26.
The problems we are facing in our community are not unique. However, two things make our situation special. First, we have a strong local communication network that includes the LMCC email alert system, the unofficial Lake Marcel Facebook page, and frequent and timely telephone conversations among concerned neighbors, all of which provide a heightened awareness of local issues. Second, we have a demonstrated desire to be proactive in addressing problems, identifying root causes and implementing solutions. These things help to keep the Lake Marcel community a safe, healthy and wonderful place to live.
