FAMILY FISHING DAY IS BACK ON JUNE 11th, 2022 — NO LICENSE REQUIRED!
by Doug Lapchis
Get ready for an exciting year of fishing activities at Lake Marcel! Our lake is opened year-round for fishing.
On Saturday, May 21st, we will have some Lake Marcel volunteers teaching classes at Beach 1 about fishing gear, casting, and knots. Time: 9:00-10:00 AM and 10:00-11:00 AM. Please scroll down to sign up!
We will have a fish plant of approximately three hundred 11-14 inch rainbow trout at Beach 1, on Friday, June 10th. Would you like to help release the fish into our lake? J&D Fisheries welcomes hands-on participation from our community!
The next day will be our Family Fishing Day event. Family Fishing Day will be Saturday, June 11th, at Beach 1. This is a free fishing weekend in Washington state - no license required. There will be a netted compound area set up which will restrict the fish to the swimming area around the docks. The purpose of the confinement is to encourage those that are new to fishing, and younger kids, to get to experience catching some nice fish.
The Lake Marcel Fishing Derby/Family Fishing Event used to be one of the largest events of the year. We would like to bring back its old glory and have a wonderful fishing opportunity and community gathering.
This event only happens because of volunteers. If you’d like to help with the Family Fishing Day event, please contact Doug Lapchis at (425) 532-6159, or reach out to the office at (425) 788-2525 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Volunteers are needed to help install and remove nets, help as dock monitors and watch for safety issues, help with unhooking fish, take photos, and more.
