On January 1st a few young adults walked out onto the frozen lake at beach 1. When they fell through the ice some made it to shore while a few made it to the floating dock. The Fire Department responded to the 911 called and successfully rescued the people on the floating dock. Once on shore they were treated for hypothermia with successful results. We are glad to report that no one was injured. This incident is a clear reminder of the dangers of attempting to walk on a frozen lake. Though we post our signs at the entrances to both beach 1 and 2 every winter which state, “Stay off the lake when ice is present. Don’t throw debris.” not everyone chooses to follow them. Reminding those that don’t may help their decision making process.
