Spring has “Sprung” and our thoughts move to outside activities. We are blessed with having a lake that provides endless opportunities and community value to all. There are several projects that you can help maintain and preserve the quality of our lake, one is the annual need to remove seed pods from the shoreline iris plants. Yellow Flowering Iris plants are an invasive water plant that could take over the lake’s shorelines.
A small group of volunteers have been trying to maintain the ever-increasing Iras spread but now needs your HELP! The seed pods that contain thousands of seeds need to be harvested before they open. This process is relatively easy but, in most cases, needs to be done from a boat or waders. If you are a lakeside homeowner, information and directions can be supplied about how, when and the proper disposal of the pods. Please let admin@lakemarcel.net know if you can remove your own shoreline plant pods or if you need help.
Your participation will not only help protect the lake but will also foster a stronger sense of community among neighbors. Working together on this initiative ensures that future generations can enjoy the serene beauty and recreational benefits that our lake offers. Whether you're an experienced boater or someone simply willing to lend a hand, every effort counts. Let’s unite in preserving this cherished natural resource—one pod at a time.
